We provide every piece of technical equipment. This is the short list of what you genuinely need to bring, and the things people always forget.
The good news first: you do not need to travel with a board, a kite or a wetsuit. All of that is included in your lessons and camp. What you bring is much simpler than most people expect.
The essentials
- Swimwear — two sets, so one is always dry
- Reef-safe sunscreen, high factor
- A towel for the beach
- A refillable water bottle
- A hat and sunglasses
The things people forget
Lip balm with sun protection, because the wind dries everything. A light windproof layer for the evening — the same breeze that makes the sport possible makes the beach cool after sunset. And a dry bag or an old plastic bag for wet swimwear on the way back to the riad.
For the town
Essaouira is relaxed and used to visitors, but it is still a Moroccan medina. Comfortable walking shoes and modest clothing for wandering the streets will make the experience easier. Evenings can be cooler than you would guess from the daytime sun, so pack a jumper.
What we provide
- Boards, kites, wings and harnesses
- Wetsuits in all sizes
- Helmet and impact vest
- Insurance and radio communication on the water
- Showers, changing rooms and equipment storage at the school
Optional but useful
Rash vest if you are prone to chafing, a waterproof camera mount if you want your own footage — although we take free photos of your sessions — and any personal medication, since pharmacies in town keep their own hours.
If you are unsure about anything specific, ask when you book. It is easier to answer before you pack than after you land.
