How do you get to Essaouira? Airports, transfers and travel times

Three airports, two easy road routes and one included transfer. Everything you need to plan the journey from your flight to the beach.

Essaouira sits on the Atlantic coast about halfway between Marrakesh and Agadir. Getting here is straightforward, and if you book a camp the transfer is already covered.

Essaouira Mogador airport

The town has its own small airport a short drive from the centre. It handles a limited number of European routes, mostly seasonal, but if you find a direct flight it is by far the easiest way in — you can be at the beach within half an hour of landing.

Marrakesh Menara

Roughly 2.5 hours away by road and the most common arrival point, with the widest choice of flights and the best prices. The drive crosses the argan plateau and is genuinely pleasant.

Agadir Al Massira

Also about 2.5 hours by road, from the south. Worth checking if you find a better fare or if you are combining your trip with time further down the coast.

Transfers

Airport transfers are included in all our camps. Send us your flight details once they are booked and we arrange the pick-up. If you are coming for lessons only, we can still organise a transfer — just ask when you enquire.

Getting around once you are here

  • The medina is walkable and closed to cars
  • Our school is about 10 minutes on foot from the medina and under 5 from the water
  • The riads we use are around 7 minutes from the beach
  • Transport to the surf or kite spot of the day is included in your lessons

If you are unsure which airport to book, send us your dates before you buy the flight and we will tell you what works best for your week.

The coach Elias was such a very respectful, kind and polite guy & passionate about what he’s doing. He never left the water and stayed the whole session supporting and making sure we’re doing the right moves.

A very warm welcome from the whole team, great moments of interaction with professionals who supported us despite less than ideal conditions for learning kitesurfing. I highly recommend it!
