A day in a NaneaKite camp: from riad breakfast to the last session

What the rhythm of a camp day actually looks like — when you eat, when you ride, and what happens in the hours between.

People often book a camp without a clear picture of how the days are structured. Here is the shape of a typical one, though the exact timing shifts with the wind.

Morning at the riad

Breakfast is served at the riad and is included every day. Mornings here are usually the calmest part of the day, which makes this the natural slot for surf sessions or for the land-based part of a kite course.

Down to the school

The school is a short walk from the medina. Every session starts with a briefing and a gear check — conditions for the day, what you are working on, and a look at the equipment before it goes near the water.

The session

Two to three hours on the water, timed to the conditions. Beginners split this between the sand and the shallows; riders who are further along spend most of it on the board. Your instructor stays within reach the whole time and, on kitesurf sessions, in radio contact.

The middle of the day

Lunch is not included, which is deliberate — the medina is ten minutes away and eating there is part of the trip. Afterwards there is usually a gap before the wind peaks: time for the rooftop terrace, the port, or a nap.

The second session

If the forecast is good and you have hours left in your package, the late afternoon is when the wind is strongest and the bay is at its best. This is where most first rides happen.

Evening

Nothing is scheduled. Most students end up eating together somewhere in the medina. On the kitesurf camps the last evening is a team dinner, which is included.

The pattern repeats, adjusted daily to the forecast. Sessions that cannot run because of the conditions are moved to another day of your stay.

It wasn't just a vacation. It was my best solo trip. I booked a week with Nanea Kite, and they organized everything: hotel, kitesurfing lessons, and, most importantly, an experience that went far beyond my expectations. From day one, I felt welcomed, as if I were already part of the group. The people at Nanea are open, kind, helpful, and incredibly friendly. I thought I was coming here to learn and improve my kitesurfing, but I found myself in a family environment, where I met fantastic people and made new friends. A special thanks goes to Mohamed, my instructor: precise, competent, and very attentive, yet flexible and able to adapt to my level. Thanks to his method, I was able to progress quickly, but always gradually and, above all, safely. And that's what I appreciated most: feeling supported without ever feeling like I was being pushed beyond my limits. The hotel was also perfect: in the heart of Essaouira's medina, ideally located for experiencing the city and easily reaching everything you need. I didn't find a single negative about this experience. In fact, Nanea Kite gave me much more than I was looking for: it allowed me to improve my kitesurfing, but above all, to meet real people, make connections, and have an experience I'll carry with me forever. I left alone and came back richer and with new friends. I'll be back; in fact, I've already booked my flight for December. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to the entire Nanea Kite team. I couldn't have asked for more. See you soon! 😎 💪🏼 !! SUELTA LA BARRA !! _____________________ It wasn’t simply a holiday. It was the best solo trip I’ve ever taken.
